Concept 10 10 takes on tennis for a win

A powerful swing in just minutes, that’s what Pernille Albrechtsen gets out of her Concept 10 10 training.

Albrechtsen’s tennis team won for the first time in years at a tournament held at the Dunes Tennis Club, located in the North Naples community where she lives.

Albrechtsen, now a local 2012 season tennis champ, has only been playing tennis at the Dunes for about two years. She did not play the sport at all prior to joining up with her tennis partner Gail Tipito with the Collier Tennis Association.

Pernille and her husband Jorgen Albrechtsen were opening the Concept 10 10 location at the same time she was getting started in the game. The club was set up and operational for the second season of tennis.

Pernille Albrechtsen started working out at Concept 10 10  for 20 minutes about every five to seven days– soon it was even less than 20 minutes per session as her weight was maximized on several of the six machines. Learn about those workout specifics here.

“I’m faster on the court. I can move around and I don’t get tired. Now, I’m stronger than the other girls are. I don’t get injuries the way the other girls do, but I did the first year,” she said.

Albrechtsen suffered a hamstring injury that she attributes in-part to jumping into the game without  building up the proper strength.

“You’re not getting stronger playing tennis at the level we’re playing. You’re standing still. Then, when you set off to run after the ball, you’re more likely to get injured,” she said.

Albrechtsen isn’t taking that risk anymore. She admits with a laugh that there are days she wishes the leg press were broken. Despite the fact that it takes only about three minutes or less on each machine, it is tough.

“I know I have to do Concept 10 10 High Intensity Training because it gives me the strength, the power. The better you are at those hard, deep strokes, the opponents can’t take it.”

Another great advantage to her game was that lingering frequent bouts of back pain were alleviated by strength training on the lower back machine at Concept 10 10.

Pernille has always been active. She’s a certified aerobics instructor, fitness trainer and trained more than 200 other aerobics instructors. She also played badminton and handball, her favorite for years. She has the greatest strength of her life because of Concept 10 10.

Dangerously good results working out just 20 minutes

Dorothy Breen, 53, the new Miss. Incredible Hulk with Personal Training

A woman around the age of Dorothy Breen, who is 53, shared how Concept 10 10 worked for her. The story in the Neapolitan section of the Naples Daily News several months ago included the experience of Concept 10 10 member, Dr. Tracye Zlobl, who was 52 at the time.

Nearly five months later, Breen learned first hand that the 20 minute per week training would work well for her too.  Similar to Dr. Zlobl, Breen had been working out previously. She worked out in the gym twice each week routinely for the past six years and plays tennis.

“I had plateaued with my old workout. I was just about losing the battle of maintaining,” Breen recalled.

She really started noticing dramatic results after about 4 sessions at Concept 10 10, including an improved tennis game and changes in her day-to-day life, that she acknowledged, might sound a little crazy if you’ve never tried Concept 10 10. Watch her on the Concept 10 10 You Tube channel below share the “might sound crazy, dangerous” results and happenings:

More than anything, Breen said she wants to get the word out to people how extraordinary Concept 10 10 is and how phenomenal the results are.

“Even with the article (read it here from the Naples Daily News), even after having done it myself, it’s hard to convey this concept, this idea to people,” Breen said.

The Concept 10 10 workout is six pieces of equipment, each used for about two minutes, with slow, 10 second movements lifting and lowering the weights for relatively few repetitions. This adds up to just about 20 minutes once each week. Sometimes twice a week to get started.

Not convinced, yet?

The solution, Breen said, is to try it.

The one hour start session comprised of  full information on Concept 10 10, establishing your settings on the equipment, and your first workout was a starting point for Breen, but then it took a little bit on her part as well.

“I came by (12820 North Tamiami Trail in North Naples) and then took on the one hour free start session. Still, I was having a hard time understanding it, but it was like a leap of faith. OK. I’ll try this,” Breen recalled.

People initially have different mindsets  from thinking 20 minutes once each week, (or even twice a week to start if they’re not used to such exercise), is way too easy to be effective, or, on the other side of the spectrum, think it must be so challenging they could never do it.

“I figure they must think it’s super hard – I figure you can do anything for 20 minutes,” Breen said.

Not only did Breen report unexpected strength gain that led to breaking a few household items before she learned what she was capable of– it also led to guys thinking she was up to something.

“The guys I play tennis with were like “Are you playing a lot of tennis without us?’”

Breen makes the motion of swinging the racket. “I had so much more power– speed mostly,” she said.

Spot toning: One of the biggest fitness myths

Spot toning: One of the biggest fitness myths

Are you holding extra fat in your thighs or maybe your buttocks? Perhaps you seem to always carry a little more extra baggage in your mid-section?

Don’t be tempted by products, services or techniques that promise to target the body fat in any one of  these particular areas.

If you’ve got chubby big toes or belly fat woes, truth is, your body fat distribution won’t change.

“Concept 10 10 won’t take your money to sell you lies”, says owner and founder Jorgen Albrectsen.

Targeting a belly roll with thousands of pushups or a magic pill is giving into the myth of spot reduction.

Many people aren’t perfectly proportioned– whatever your idea of perfect is. They may be the type to have a larger upper body or a larger lower body.

“They can get strong as they can be,” Jorgen says. “They will still be disproportionate.

“You can’t carve out the body you want. That’s why we have this joke: ‘Choose your parents carefully,’” he says.

It’s genetics.

“We realize it’s disappointing to people because they’ve been living a dream that unfortunately doesn’t come true.”

Commercially, financially, it could be tempting to feed into this mythology of spot reduction. However, clients’ results are the payoff at Concept 10 10.

Nanny from Turkey uses North Naples fitness program to achieve same results as her 20 years older North Naples employer

Duygu Isa of Turkey is an au pair for a Naples family. Although Duygu is almost 20 years younger than the Naples mother, Melissa Kahn, who she nanny’s for, Duygu said her body wasn’t nearly as youthful looking as Melissa’s.

Melissa Kahn, mother of three shared her story several months ago after working out for several weeks at Concept 10 10 in this video:

Since it worked so well for Melissa, Duygu figured it would work for her as well, so she too began working out at Concept 10 10 about six months ago. She was right, of course, it worked for Duygu too.
There’s a science behind why Concept 10 10 is so effective for Melissa, Duygu, and many others. Near age 30, there is a decreae in the amount of HGH, human growth hormone that is produced.  HGH is responsible for many things, including decreased body fat, increased skin thickness and plasticity as well as maintaining bone density.
Physical fitness helps maintain HGH as people age. The type of workout, according to the British Journal of Sports Medicine,  is an important factor in producing the most HGH. It’s not activity like slow jogging that has the greatest effect. Instead, it’s the approach used at Concept 10 10, which is strength training in short bursts to muscle fatigue that best produce HGH, scientists report.

Duygo wasn’t as concerned about the science as she was about the results. She shares her story in an interview with Concept 10 10:

When did you come to the U.S. and why?
About nine months ago, late in the Spring of 2011, I came from Turkey as an au pair for a family in Naples to learn the English language, work with kids as the family’s nanny, and get a new experience.

How do you like Naples?
I love it. I’m at the beach with the kids today.

Why did you decide to workout at Concept 10 10?
My host mom was doing it and her body is amazing. I’m about 20 years younger. I thought, ‘I need to do something.’

Did you see any changes in your body?
I’ve been working out there for about 6 months and I have more muscle and less fat now. I was not so fat, but I was fat. I needed more to shape my body than lose weight. I did lose weight though.

How has it affected your daily life?
Everything… feeling more self-confident, social life, it affects everything.

What was your first impression of Concept 10 10?
It was a little hard because I didn’t workout prior, but after you feel the muscles, it’s great.

Where you involved in any physical activity at all back home in Turkey?
I played volleyball. I did some fitness exercises, but not like this.

Do you plan to workout more when you return home?
I go back to Turkey in two months. (March) I’m searching for something like Concept 10 10 in Turkey because you don’t have to do it all day. It’s only once a week for about 20 minutes. I’ll be working, so it would be good.
I don’t know if I’ll be able to find anything like it. I know some people working with weights, but it’s not the same. This is working really slowly, so it’s better.

What’s your favorite part of Concept 10 10?
You’re feeling more tight. You’re feeling not fat, feeling the muscles on your body. That’s the best part of the workout– feeling your muscles.

If someone was considering Concept 10 10, what would you tell them to help them make a decision?
If they love themselves, they want a better shape, health, self-confidence with their body, they need to try this, especially if they don’t have time to work out a lot.

The runaround: You need not jog to be in top “cardio” health, Concept 10 10 members say

Marathons and triathlons abound South Florida at the beginning of the New Year. The Concept 10 10 training doesn’t include jogging, and, in fact, kind of discourages it. Nonetheless, many runners who are clients of Concept 10 10 said the workout is giving them a leg up come race time.

Concept 10 10 training is the best you can do for your cardiovascular system, owner and founder Jorgen Albrechtsen reports. Jogging and other high-impact, low-intensity exercises are not part of Concept 10 10 because they increase the risk of injury and they are not effective in maximizing physical fitness, he says.

Not having to jog to gain your maximum fitness level is attractive to many Concept 10 10 clients. Jogging is one of the many traditional “aerobic” exercises that damage joints. Non-marathoners may also just find such activity unpleasant. So, these people are in for a treat at Concept 10 10 because running and old-fashioned ”aerobics” exercises, often referred to as cardio, are not in the Concept 10 10 exercise routine. Runners are also in for a treat though, because Concept 10 10 clients who enjoy running are reporting increased speed and endurance following training at Concept 10 10 in North Naples.

The Concept 10 10 workout includes just about 20 minutes of work each week on a total of six machines, with each movement done in slow, controlled movements for about 10 seconds lifting the weight and 10 seconds lowering the weight. Beginner clients can benefit by two workouts per week for the first 2 to 3 weeks until they achieve their high intensity weight and perfect the technique of 10 seconds lifting, 10 lowering.

The six exercises increase strength and muscular development by working the muscles until fatigue without any high-impact or risk of  injury. Each client works alone with a trainer in a one-on-one setting. The increased strength gained by the ultimate Concept 10 10 workout increases cardiovascular fitness.

“This is cardio at its best. All serious research indicates increasing your muscle mass and increasing your cardio is totally the same thing. If you’ve increased your muscle mass, you’ve increased your cardio performance,” says Jorgen.

Concept 10 10 member Robert Hedgepath gets it. He heard of the science behind Concept 10 10 years ago. Research and first-hand experience sold Robert on the concepts several months ago.

“Well I still believe in cardio, I still like to run, but I know it’s just a matter of being stronger,” he says.

Hear Robert Hedgepath share his experience (and his age) in this video:

So, although it’s not encouraged, Robert still runs regularly. The strength that he’s gained from Concept 10 10 helps in multiple ways. It improved his overall fitness by increasing his upper body strength, which running was not doing for him, he said. Furthermore, the strength gained in his lower body and throughout his body, is helping his running.

Learn more from Jorgen Albrechtsen in this video below on how cardiovascular health is maximized with Concept 10 10 through its high-intensity, low-impact workouts versus low-intensity, high-impact activities such as jogging.

Concept 10 10 is cardiovascular exercise at its best without any jogging or traditional work:

Prevent unwanted pregnancy weight gain and pain with Concept 10 10

It’s not only OK to remain physically fit during pregnancy it’s necessary for the health of mom and baby.
Concept 10 10 provides all the benefits of working out during pregnancy without any of the risks, said Jorgen Albrechtsen, founder and developer of Concept 10 10.

A baby’s growth puts pressure on the mother’s hips, butt and back. When you exercise at Concept 10 10 during pregnancy, you improve your posture and get your back, hip, and butt muscles in shape, thus reducing back pain.
Naples resident, Andrea Compton can attest to this.  The 30 year old mom is about 8 months pregnant with her second son.  Her first pregnancy came with intense, nearly constant back pain.  Trying to avoid pain again, Andrea signed up at Concept 10 10 about 6 months ago, and is now experiencing the benefits not only of building visible muscle tone, but also decreasing back pain. “I can only attribute it to Concept 10 10,” she said. Working full time and being mom to Preston, (1 year old), Andrea is pressed for time, with Concept 10 10’s 20 minutes per week, Andrea finds it easy to fit into her schedule.
Is that short time frame a cop out for a pregnant woman. No way! It’s what all clients do to stay in optimal shape and, due to Concept 10 10’s intensity, it’s plenty.

Unlike Andrea, it’s not uncommon for pregnant women to fear injury from working out. She knows now that Concept 10 10 provides the optimal environment for expectant mothers looking to get in shape and stay in shape because of a personal, one-on-one trainer who is always present to monitor proper movement. This ensures that all exercises are slow and controlled while foregoing the impact or contact of many other sports and activities.
“Not only does Concept 10 10 present no risk of injury, it prevents risk of injury”, Jorgen said.
Pregnancy puts a lot of strain on the body, including carrying extra weight 24/7. A lot of women get permanent damage, such as varicose veins, because they are not strong enough to deal with it. Exercise prevents this.
“The worst thing you could do is do nothing thinking it’s protecting the fetus.” Jorgen said.
“You may shun away from normal sports to avoid risk of injury, but here at Concept 10 10 there is absolutely no risk of injury.”
Unlike tennis or any higher impact sport, Concept 10 10 is safe because there is no contact.
Due to the personal trainer, you won’t be left vulnerable to move in a way that could cause injury to yourself or the unborn baby.
There’s also a big difference between high-intensity and high-impact. Concept 10 10 is high-intensity, but minimal to no impact.
The benefits include an increased ease in getting back to pre-pregnancy weight and shape, particularly due to factors such as boosting the metabolism.

Regular exercise minimizes the likelihood of gaining too much weight during pregnancy, often reduces the duration of labor and frequently leads to a leaner healthy birth weight for the baby.
Pregnant women can keep up with their non-pregnant peers despite what their bodies are going through. There is only one machine that most pregnant women will find they can no longer use during the latter part of their pregnancy. The abdominal machine won’t be used about half-way into most pregnancies, Jorgen said.  Please consult your doctor prior to engaging in any fitness routine.

Bob Harden – You have to try it to believe it

Bob Harden, 65

Local talk radio host Bob Harden, 65, said he heard about Concept 10 10 through friends. He was skeptical at first, but you have to try it to believe it, Bob says.
It wasn’t long ago that he too says he was duped into believing that hours of work were required to stay in shape. Now, Bob says he knows better.
Bob is known in the area for his time on 98.9 FM WGUF Naples FM Talk Radio’s “The Bob Harden Show.”
He recently retired from the show and will be starting his own live radio show and internet podcast where Concept 10 10 will likely be one of many discussions, he says.
Bob finishes a 20 minute workout without a bead of sweat and not at all breathless thanks to a lack of jogging or traditional cardio work.
That doesn’t mean those muscles aren’t shaking and soon to be feeling a bit weak, as he worked to complete muscle fatigue faster than any other workout he’s tried.

A Controlled Study of 895 Consecutive Patients

The Clinical Effects of Intensive Specific Exercise on Chronic Low Back Pain:

A Controlled Study of 895 Consecutive Patients with 1 Year Follow Up

Brian W. Nelson, MD, Elizabeth O’Reilly, RN, Mark Miller*, PT, Mike Hogan, PT, Joseph A. Wegner, MD, MPH, Charles Kelly, MD

Focus on the Spine

Eight hundred ninetyfive consecutive chronic low back pain patients were evaluated. Six hundred twentyseven completed the program. One hundred sixtyone began, but dropped out, and 107 were recommended for treatment but did not undergo treatment for various reasons. Average duration of symptoms prior to evaluation was 26 months. Fortyseven percent of patients were workers’ compensation patients.

The primary treatment was intensive specific exercise using firm pelvic stabilization to isolate and rehabilitate the lumbar spine musculature.

Patients were encouraged to work hard to achieve specific goals. Seventysix percent of patients completing the program had excellent or good results.
At 1year follow up 94% of patients with good or excellent result reported maintaining their improvement. Results in the control group were significantly poorer in all areas surveyed except employment.
